Mother's Day ideas for traveling PS Productions/Photospin

This Mother’s Day, put away the roses, skip the breakfast in bed, and ignore the perfume aisle at the local department store. Why not give the gift of travel to Mom this year?

Sleeping late on luxury sheets in a room someone else cleans beats the typical brunch after church any day. But where should she go?

Here are some suggestions across the country for Mother’s Day travels with and without the family.

With the family: Great Wolf Resorts

Great Wolf Resorts, Inc is adding more new attractions and guest experiences to its indoor waterpark resorts than ever before.

With a recent multimillion dollar investment into the resorts, guests visiting any of the 11 Great Wolf Lodge properties this year will discover something new, from thrilling water slides and delicious, family-friendly dining, to unique shopping, spa and interactive attractions.

Mom will be happy someone else is doing the cooking, cleaning, and planning and she can just relax and actually enjoy spending time with her kids. What a gift!

Without the family: Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain
A relaxing day in a local spa is nice. A weekend soaking in the luxury and beauty of the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain is amazing. The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain is an unforgettable luxury hotel in Tucson, set high on a mountaintop in the Sonoran Desert.

In honor of Mother's Day, The Spa at Dove Mountain are upping their typical services to feature three specialized packages, including the "Our Time Together" package which offers a 50-minute massage, a pedicure and a 25-minute manicure.

They will also offer the "To Mom With Love," and the "Mommy and Me," for a mother and child spa experience. (But honestly, unless the “child” is 35, it is a safe bet most moms would skip this package.) In addition to the spa, Mom can enjoy the 20 miles of hiking and biking trails or maybe just enjoy the kid-free quiet while taking in the beauty of an Arizona sunset.

With or without the family: Fairmont Scottsdale Princess
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is treating Moms to a decadent brunch, luxurious spa treatments, and poolside relaxation this Mother’s Day.

While Mom is soaking up the sun with a good book, the kids (if they are there) can hang out in the Trailblazers kid’s adventure club(complimentary for up to three kids with resort fee) and create arts and crafts, swim and explore the property.

Mom is happy. The kids are happy. And if Dad is a golfer, he will be more than happy at two of the best golf courses in Scottsdale. Winning!
