The United States, according to the WORLD Policy Analysis Center, is the only industrialized nation in the world that does not guarantee paid maternity leave. Just last week, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said he indeed planned for paid maternity leave — but only for six weeks. Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s plan calls for 12 weeks of paid maternity leave.
While the 12 weeks may appear favorable to new parents, how does it really compare to the rest of the industrialized world?
