It appears that my healthful eating habits are having an effect upon my boss and a few of my colleagues. We're in an office that isn't within walking distance of any decent restaurants. So, many of us bring our lunches. Now, boss is in his mid-60's, has a beer-fed pot belly and loves his BBQ and burgers.
To celebrate meeting a milestone on my project, I brought mango salsa, hummus and quacamole that I made fresh that morning, whole wheat pita and tossed fruit, to lay out for everyone to snack on. One of my colleagues exclaimed that I raised the bar for the office, as the usual office offerings were donuts. My boss wasn't complaining at all about the spread and even went back for seconds and thirds.
After 6 months of teasing me about my eating habits, my boss announced to me this week that he's now watching his waistline and has not been making his usual morning dash to the taco truck (the mobile vendor that comes around twice daily). He also used to make comments about how much water I drink, but now drinks more water than diet sodas - as long as he has some sort of powdered flavoring to add to it.
Now, if I could just get people to get off their duffs and find ways to work in some desk-side exercise...
