Costa Ricans have made a concerted effort to lessen their carbon footprint and live in harmony with their environment, taking great measures to protect it's rain forests and shore lines. Costa Ricans also have the second highest life expectancy, with Canada having the highest.
The United States ranked very low on the list, at number 114. This low number is attributed to mass consumerism and a very large carbon footprint.
Other nations with the same kind of carbon footprint (China and India for example) also ranked low on the list.
