Admittedly, I haven't spent much time with my Wii, since I hired a personal trainer last April. Nonetheless, I just had to get the newest release, Wii Fit Plus, that I fired up today after work.
The enhancements to the popular "game" include buddy exercises, new personalization levels, exercises for mother and child and even pets. Among the new activities are skateboarding and a Segway course (can't wait to figure that one out).
Instead of taking chances on iffy weather and going out for a short run, I decided to go through a variety of aerobic and anaerobic exercise, starting with yoga. Yoga is great for runners, helping with balance and core strength. Wii tells me I'm at the yoga instructor level. Well, that's better than couch potato! I also did the hula (I only caught a couple of the flying hoops) running in place and did just under 2 miles in 50 minutes. Then, I finished with the dance challenge (at which I'm sometimes rhythm challenged).
Running in place, Wii told me I did nearly 2 miles in 10 minutes. I know I don't go that fast, but it was still fun trying to figure out how the handheld control could be, well, controlled. You should see how fast I can make my little character run, LOL!
Maybe by the time my next marathon comes up (Nov 15), I might have improved my balance and made my Wii virtual trainer happy. Frankly, my Wii scores have improved since I started working with my trainer. That should make her day.
