My wife had open heart surgery in 11/15/05. Now she has been told that she has a leaky valve that will also require open heart surgery. She is scheduled to see her doctor here at Lovelace Hospital this Friday to see what other issues she has with her heart in order to address them all at one time during surgery. I understand that there is another type of heart surgery that requires minimal invasive surgery as opposed to the standard open heart surgery and it is called mitraclip heart procedure. Do you know if that type of surgery is done in any of the Albuquerque hospitals? Should I be concerned with her having the standard open heart surgery again? What is the rate of success on operations done via mitraclip heart procedure? I realize without having more details it is hard for you to give an opinion but, I still would be interested in your feedback.
Thank you,
Jaime
