I am 20 years old and have had gastric band surgery in March of this year, I have lost 35kgs (77lbs) which has been a fantastic feeling, I am now in the normal weight range and considered a healthy weight. As I started to lose the weight I watched my periods become regular for the first time in my life which was an amazing feeling! They were starting on the same date of the month and were lasting about 3-4 days which was great.
My period in the last 4 months has however changed, I started to get extremely bad cramps (my boyfriend had to do a 11pm chemist run for a heatpack) as I could only seem to feel half comfortable in foetal position. My GP told me a heatpack and Naprogesic would do the trick.
The next 2 months I experienced the same sort of pain however started throwing up constantly and was unable to keep any fluids down, which made me dehydrated and dizzy.
This month my period has been going non stop for 3 weeks, with a 3 day break between last months period and this months. I was feeling okay in terms of the pain, and was just more annoyed with the constant bleeding, but tonight I have started throwing up again and need to be curled up in foetal position with a heatpack.
What the hell is going on, I plan on making an appointment to see my GP at some point tomorrow, but would like to know what sort of things I should be asking her and what sort of tests can she do to determine the problem..
Also - I am not a big fan of birth control as that was the cause of my initial weight gain, I have now done so well to get it off, I don't want to put it all back on again. My body hates the pill, no matter how low the dose!
