It was a tough loss but the Patriot’s are still my team! I’m Kristen and as I’m sure you’ve already guessed I live in the Boston area. I’m a group fitness instructor, personal trainer and blogger about all things related to fitness and healthy eating. My 2012 Resolution was to have a new goal to work towards each month. In January I de-cluttered my apartment, vowing to let go of one unnecessary item a day for 31 days. It was tough but I did it. This month I'm taking on an even greater challenge. I've been asked to take part in the EmpowHer BodyMedia FITness Challenge. As part of the challenge I will wear the Core Armband for 6 weeks along with 5 other bloggers. We will wear the armband 23 hours a day to help us track our goals.
So you're probably wondering; what are my goals? I thought long and hard about this one and here's what I've come up with. I'm going to increase my daily activity level. I'm challenging myself to take and average 13,000 steps a day; that's goal 1. Goal 2 is to stay active for 2.5 hours throughout the day. This will include a combination of moderate activity, such as walking, and/or vigorous activity like running or jumping. Oh and I'm going to do all of this without losing any weight. I'm happy with my myself and don't feel I need to change that. Of course this means I'll have to eat more to make up for all the extra calories I'm going to burn. Not such a bad deal right?
This will be a tough challenge; I don't doubt that at all. I thrive on competition, though I mostly compete against myself. I can always be better, stronger or faster than I was before. In fact, the harder the goal, the more I want it. So with that said, I'm going to need all the encouragement I can get. I need some cheer leaders for this challenge. So check in with me daily on my Facebook fan page. Re-tweet my Tweets if you think I'm going a good job. I'll be posting here weekly to report back in on my progress. You should hold me accountable to my goals; go ahead don't be shy. ;)
I’ve been wearing the armband for a week now, I have to say, it is a really cool gadget. It tracks my calories burned, activity level, number of steps per day and my sleep efficiency. The activity manager puts the data in a nice little graph for me so that I can see where I am with my goals. What I really like about the activity manager is that it tells me how many calories I burn per minute at any given point in the day. I also find the sleep graph very interesting. It shows me a timeline of my sleep pattern, telling me exactly when I'm asleep and when I'm awake. Pretty neat stuff!
I bet you’re thinking that you want one these now too. So go for it! Get an armband and join me in the FITness Challenge. Here is some more information about the product:
