Mood: Optimistic
In her New York Times best-selling book “The Happiness Project,” Gretchen Rubin listed her 12 personal commandments for happiness. One of the commandments is, “Act the way I want to feel.”
Research shows that although we think we act the way we do because of the way we feel, in fact, we often feel the way we do because of the way we act. It’s true.
Today, I didn’t wake up with a beaming smile on my face. And my energy level was pretty low.
So when I opened my Mood Runner iPhone App, I asked myself, “How do you want to feel today?” “I want to feel optimistic and energetic,” I replied.
So I acted the way I wanted to feel. I walked with my back straight and my head held high, and I tried to keep a smile on face. And you know what? It worked! I’ve been feeling the way I wanted to feel.
What do you want to feel? Try it, act the way you want to feel, and see if it makes a difference.
