Sometimes we just look at promotions in a business life reference. Really promotions happen more often in real life and some without our own influence.
Promotions:
Daughter or Son (Birth order changes)
Sister or Brother
Niece/Nephew
Friend/Best Friend
Child to adult (Usually happens, but of course not everyone and I am not talking about those genuinely impaired)
Wife/Husband
Adult to Parent (The role as Mother or Father can be a defining role for many people)
Aunt/Uncle
Divorcee/Widower (Life happens and your promotion or demotion is in a matter of perspective)
Parent to Grandparent (The ultimate promotion for a parent if you are not the primary caregiver again but just the indulgent fun ‘Granny’ or ‘Grandpa’)
Old Lady/Old Man
In the business world you can project your promotion schedule through work performance reviews, leadership skills evaluations, project reviews, etc. Often you can appeal if you are passed over for a promotion.
In personal life few families or friends give out performance reviews or evaluations.
Yes children will tell you that you’re the worst Mother or Father ever, but it is usually a phase. Friends will grow apart, and family members will lose touch.
If we had a performance/evaluation review for our personal life this is what I think it should look like:
List 5 ways have you added to this relationship
List 5 ways you contribute to this relationship
List 5 ways you will work to benefit this relationship
How many of us would be fired from friends or family with my personal life review!
I have work to do!!!
