Hi everyone!
My name is Jenny and I am the newest addition to the EmpowHER family. I wanted to create my first SHARE to "share" some information about myself.
For my first SHARE, I want to tell you about training for my first half marathon.
I started training about four months ago, after I started creating a bucket list. Things like skydiving, traveling to Europe (Italy, Spain, Japan...), having a successful garden were just a few things I wanted to accomplish someday.
I have never thought about distance running before, nor have I ever been fond of running. I created this goal because it was something I never thought I would (ever) do.
So I signed up for the P.F. Changs Rock n' Roll Marathon and Half Marathon.
My schedule started out structured, running and cross training four days a week (one long run on Sundays). But my schedule quickly warped into running whenever I was able to. The months passed, the holidays came and went and now here I am, a week and a half before the race.
Today I woke up at 5 a.m. so I was able to run 11 miles.
Although I ran slowly (and not well at all), I am still going to be able to complete the half marathon.
So, wish me luck! It's going to happen!
