Hi, I am an advocate for a new health movement in America called the AYA Movement.
AYA stands for Adolecent & Young Adults w/ Cancer.
Did you know that AYA cancer is (7x) SEVEN times more common than all pediatric cancers combined, young adult cancer (age 15-39) is largely unknown in the war on cancer with 72,000 new diagnoses each year. That's one every eight minutes. This is not OK! This neglected group—now millions strong—has limited resources, inadequate support, and, more importantly, a lack of awareness and understanding from the community around them. Leading in this fight is world renowned Dr. Leonard Sender, who has stated that the medical community must wake up to the fact that like pediatric cancer, AYA cancer's require different protocols due to the differences in the metabolic structure of a younger adult or adolecent vs an older adult. Medical protocols must be individualized for these patients!!!
We are changing the way your cancer is treated!!! One way is to demand to your surgeon, "Freeze my tumor" for storage! If he can't, find a new surgeon!
* I am an advocate, board member, philanthropist and mother of an AYA brain cancer survivor who was diagnosed 2012 at age 21!
