I have experienced gradually worsening back pain since my early 20's (I'm now 40). I've tried chiropractic treatment, massage, ultrasound therapy, electro-muscle stimulation therapy, traction, etc but found no relief. I finally went to an ortho-neuro doctor and was told the only way to permanently get rid of the pain was with spinal fusion. She did say I could have a procedure to deaden the affected pinched nerves but that would only be a temporary solution (about 9 months). I haven't yet made a decision as to what to do but in the meantime I am trying to do physical therapy to strengthen my core muscles in hopes to at least hold everything in place and prevent any further damage.
