My doctor informed me that the virus had not impacted any of the cells in my cervix, but I do have the high risk strain of HPV. She indicated that since I am young (34) my immune system will work to fight the virus (as it's like a common cold for the vagina). I am so devastated by the diagnosis as I do not really know what this means going forward. Does my life stop? Will this impact my ability to get pregnant in the future? I feel ashamed and embarrased and scared. My doctor said that the reason for the tests is to catch these viruses early, but is there anything that I can do in the meantime to help fight off the virus? Does anyone know how quickly the virus can start to get better? Everythign I've read is very generic (i.e. 6 months, 1 year)...I'm always very careful when I am sexually active and always get my yearly and even six month tests done, as I'm a bit paranoid about it...please help....
