Is it normal to have a period every two weeks?

I'm a 42 year old lady who has had regular periods every 28 days until a month and a half ago when I've been having them every two weeks.....my breasts have been sore and I've been very tired. I'm anaemic and take two iron tablets a day. Could this be the cause?
