Step One: Know Who You Are
Empowered women don’t feel as though they’re lost; instead, they feel that they know themselves. In order to do this, you need to spend your time wisely. Putting so much of yourself into a relationship or a job can start to zap your spirit and your sense of self. Even devoting yourself wholly to your family, while a wonderful pursuit, can start to detract from yourself. Empowered women know themselves in that they notice both their strengths and their weaknesses. They’re able to spot room for improvement and make the changes that are necessary to start feeling more whole.
Step Two: Commit to Regular Exercise
Exercise has a lot more going for it than simply improving your figure. When you workout on a regular basis, you’ll find yourself feeling physically and mentally fit. When you’re active and feeling great all over, you’ll have an easier time flexing your empowerment muscle. In addition, exercise is excellent for combating stress. Step Three: Dedicate Yourself to Learning
No matter how much you know, there’s always room to learn even more. Be inquisitive and curious; ask questions; dive into subjects that you have no experience with. Expanding your knowledge and evolving will help you feel more and more empowered. There are all kinds of ways to learn: pick up a book, sign up for a class, get involved with a group of experts, conduct research online, etc. Even dedicating a few minutes a day to learning something new can have amazing results.
Step Four: Protect Yourself
It’s hard to feel empowered when you let other people take advantage of you. It’s time to start standing up for yourself (if you haven’t been doing this already). When people are rude to you or say unkind things about it, you have a right to defend yourself. Even if that’s not the sort of thing you experience on a regular basis, though, there are always opportunities to stand up for what you believe. Don’t hesitate to speak up when you disagree with something – there’s always a way to stand your ground respectfully and confidently. Whether it’s with your family, your boss or your circle of friends, being empowered means being your own biggest supporter.
Step Five: Practice Saying “No”
There’s so much power that comes with the word “no.” When you’re asked to do something that you’re not interested in or that you don’t have the time or energy for, simply say, “No,” and leave it at that. Don’t worry about offering excuses or explanations. This may feel awkward at first, but you’ll get used to it over time. Empowered women know what they should be focusing their energy on and they always make sure to leave everything else out of their life.
An empowered woman is one who feels that she has control over her life. Empowerment is the ability to take this control while remaining strong, confident and full of grace. Every single woman has the right and the ability to be empowered.
