Has anyone heard of important tips that would aid in determining if you, or a loved one, is experiencing a stroke?
We’ve probably all seen e-mails circulating over the past few years about the signs of a stroke. After another e-mail last night, decided to go straight to the American Stroke Association for the real answer. So, here are five ways to determine if someone you know just had a stroke:
Walk – Is his or her balance off?
Talk – Is his/her face slurred or face droopy?
Reach – Is one side weak or numb?
See -- Is the person’s vision all or partially lost?
Feel – Does he or she have a severe headache?
The program is part of a joint effort between the American Academy of Neurology, the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
