I wanted to share my new discovery with all of you: the local public library!
Have you gone, recently?
I moved back to my hometown, and feel like a tourist...but in a good way! Growing up in a large city, there was always entertainment galore waiting at my fingertips. Now that I have moved back home, but now as a mom and a wife, the city of my youth has changed. The good news is: so have I!
I visited my first local public library a month ago with my toddler. Sure, I've been to the college libraries a million times, but never to the scary, seemingly isolated public library. I may be the last person to have found this out: but the local libraries feature storytimes and crafts for kids, book clubs for adults, movie nights for teens...and many, many other monthly community events! What a great way to meet your neighbors, enjoy some very inexpensive entertainment, and learn a little something, too! You can check out new release DVDs and videos, learning activities for kids, books (duh!), and use their internet and computers for free.
Anyways, I would love to hear if you've discovered anything "new" in your community that has always been there...but you were too busy (or, in my case, I thought I was "too cool"!) to visit.
