A new study out of UNC (University of North Carolina) may have found a way to use adult stem cells to heal broken bones.
According to Science Daily, the stem cells in human bone marrow, called mesenchymal stem cells, can turn into bone, cartilage, fat, muscle and blood vessel cells. This new treatment could help millions of adults with osteoporosis and other chronic bone conditions.
What do you think about this? Would you be an "early adopter" of this method and use your own stem cells (don't worry...they aren't the highly debated embroyonic stem cells) in order to help your body heal? The tests are currently being conducted on mice, but it might not be long until this is available.

It's nice to know that this is painless and simple and has many applications. And I visited the site -- fascinating.

My husband has received his own stem cells via IV. Although he suffers from a more serious condition, he wanted to try it anyway. It did not work for him because the baby cells which are the ones living in the bone marrow were unable to regenerate into new motor neuron cells. What ever caused my husband's disease also destroyed the new cells. Stem cell treatments with your own bone marrow "baby" cells is legal and thus a growing practice. The procedure is simple and painless. Many claim to feel younger, more energetic and in some cases people who suffered from arthritis have improved, new hair growth on those suffering from boldness, in other cases remodeling of old scars results were seeing, increased energy, and a much younger appearance. Adult stem cell research and therapies is the way to go, the risk of rejection is non-existent and there is a reason why our Divine Creator gave us millions of extra "baby" cells which are stored in our own bones. Isn't that amazing!!! We will hear more on this type of treatment as it eliminates the ethical dilemma of going the route of embryonic stem cell treatment. Here is the link of my husband's doctor whose medical practice focuses on regenerative medicine using adult stem cells. http://www.strokedoctor.com/

Although I've heard that marrow extraction (and obviously not sure how this would be performed) is not always pleasant, if I had the opportunity to correct a condition such as osteoporosis, I would likely consider it. I would consider it for a family member as well if this were possible. Very eye-opening. Thanks.
