I had total hysterectomy at 42 and was on hormone replacement until study came out in 2002. I am now 62 and after watching Hot Flash Havoc and living with depression, loss of libido, and a lot of general issues mentioned in the film I want to start it again. My biggest fear was breast cancer. Period. I am wondering if it would help with my depression, which scares me, plus vaginal dryness, which was mentioned in the film. So happy that I saw this film since I felt very alone, which doesn't help with depression. Thank you for your help.

Hello,
March 19, 2016 - 9:22pmI'm so sorry you were feeling alone. Please know that you are not alone and you have come to a safe and understanding community here at EmpowHer.
We have so much information about menopause and I will share some of that information with you right now.
Many women have found hormonal replacement therapy essential to getting through menopause. After having a hysterectomy it is often essential.
When your body has the correct balance of hormones it can decrease and often eliminate symptoms of depression, vaginal dryness, low libido, and hot flashes.
I highly suggest you talk to your gynecologist about your symptoms and discuss treatment options.
Below I have pasted a link to a HER article that talks more about hormonal replacement therapy.

I hope that helps.
