I have tried so many things for my vestibular vulvadynia, I can't even remember some! lol. For a year and a half I have been using water based estrogen cream applied to vulva and vagifem pills 2x per wk. This is probably what has helped me the most out of anything I have tried as it seems to heal the skin. However, I still have pain in the vestibular area, I can't wear underwear, and I know I never will again for the rest of my life except on rare occasions to go to the doctor. I don't sit the same way, I can't ride a bicycle, and on it goes. I still can't have intercourse and remembering the burning horrible pain and inflammation I would get from that is enough to make me cringe at the thought although my sex drive is still strong.

Other things that have helped me are the following, drinking lots of water- as soon as I feel burning and drink two glasses of water and put on looser clothing if my clothing is not really loose, most of it is now and is always stretchy. I use a probiotic, this helped a lot to control yeast- I don't use an expensive one anymore, my fav was pro-biflora- I can't get that anymore. I take cranberry and garlic supplements and eat greek yogurt daily- these are all yeast fighters. If I have a lot of burning I apply yogurt.

I control my sugar intake a lot now, although sometimes I slip up, but I always eat something non sugary too if I do. I take plenty of other supplements- these may help also. I was taking an anti-inflammatory for bursitis for a while and found it helped my vulvadynia pain tremendously but I couldn't stay on that due to reflux problems. The estrogen cream/pills and naproxen were the best help I have felt since this whole nightmare started- I almost felt like I didn't have this anymore. I also do meditation to try to focus my mind away from the burning when it gets worse: I tell myself that it is going to reduce and subside in 20 minutes or so after I drink some water which it usually does.

I have stopped using any soap/cleanser to wash there except for the outside vulva. I had found if I didn't wash with something I would get bacteria build up and feel worse. But I'm now just using water there and I think it makes a difference too.

This is my routine, it helps me, but it has not by any means cured me- I wonder if one day I will be cured? I've kind of given up hope- this has gone on for so long now, it's just about 6 years or so- it all started when I got what I now think was an ecoli infection in my urinary tract, the whole area became more and more inflamed. I also believe i have an autoimmune thing going on as my bladder/vulva and eyes would be inflamed, burning and stinging all at the same time when eating certain foods when this all started.
