This sounds like two different issues; I am so sorry!

Removing an IUD without strings can be done. Depending on if there are some visible strings still hanging outside of the cervix, the health care providers have instruments (think: tweezers) to gently grasp the remaining shortened strings. If absolutely no strings are found outside the cervix, your doctor may dilate your cervix, so that an instrument may be inserted through your cervix to grasp the IUD and remove it.

Be sure to talk with your doctor before this procedure, and ask if there are any pain relief measures you should take beforehand, as well as if they will provide a prescription afterwards. Some women experience mild cramp-like pain; other women may feel more pressure and pain with IUD removal.

Your second issue: did you have any breast pain, difficulty breathing or depression symptoms before using the IUD?
