A good friend of mine had her gall bladder removed in her early 50s, and she is fine. She is more sensitive now to rich foods and to digestive issues, however, and has to be more conscious of nutrition.

I agree with alysia, we are all individuals and there's no way to tell how any one person's treatment or recovery will go. But here's some information on gallbladder removal.

Gallbladder surgery is done under general anesthesia. While it is major surgery, the change in protocol from mostly open surgery to mostly laparoscopic surgery has made recovery smoother and shorter in length.
