Hi Mary,
I am so sorry you are going through this! I can't imagine that doctors would say that you are "ok" when you have burning upon urination. Can you get a second or third or fourth opinion until you find a doctor that will treat you for ALL of your symptoms (including stress and burning when peeing, as well as urgency to go and sweating---which all sound like a tract infection).

What are your other symptoms? Any blood with urination (hematuria)? Strong smelling urine? Fever? Pelvic pain?

What tests were conducted? Urinalysis? Blood test? Other?

You are normal, please don't be so hard on yourself! Many people have conditions that are not explainable or diagnosable at first...that does not mean there is anything wrong with them, as people are MUCH more than their condition or pain.

I am not a doctor, but when I first read your message, I wondered if you have been checked for a sexually transmitted infection (STI?). The symptoms of many STIs is burning when peeing. It can be embarrassing, but there are many treatments for STIs (also known as STDs) and a good doctor will not make you feel bad...they are there to help you!

Can you tell us more about your stress and why you are scared (it sounded like you were scared from other things, not only from your pain--is that correct?). College is a very, very stressful time, and we can help you work through some of that.

Here are some possible reasons for burning when peeing. Did your doctor rule out all of these? If so, what are the next steps for your doctor (good doctors do not just say, "oh well, can't find anything wrong so must not exist"). Find a doctor who will work with you to find a solution to your pain!

It sounds like your doctor(s) think there is a psychological component to your pain. What do you think of this? Do you agree that your stress is causing the pain to intensify? Do you have any history of mental illness or depression in your family?

Take care---we'll try to help you, and in the meantime, please look into finding another similar doctor or naturopathic physician for a second opinion!
