I agree, what a fabulous post! Made me think twice about what I'd really ask.

I have a good friend who is in a longterm committed gay relationship, and through him I've learned all kinds of invisible discrimination they go through. I think I'd ask what would happen under each plan in a gay household -- with or without children.

Under McCain's plan, would each partner receive the $5,000 credit?

Under Obama's plan, would each partner be insured in the same way federal employees would? In other words, would they be covered as single individuals?

What if there were children in the house?

What if it's in one of the states that recognizes gay marriage? Can a national insurance company insure a married gay couple in New Hampshire but not do so in Wyoming?
