Your post couldn't be timelier. My husband and I have been through this in the last year, as have so many people.

We found an amazing counselor and saw him individually as well as together once in a while. He was actually more help individually, because the two of us process things in different ways and had different things on our minds.

One of the things that we had to really, really work on was in not thinking it was our "fault" or the other person's "fault." We are brought up to believe that if we work hard, we can accomplish anything. So what happens when you work hard and you lose your job? It's almost impossible to not blame yourself or others, but if you do, you will get very stuck in that.

Recognize your hard work and don't buy into the blame game. The economy is rocky and some of us will get chewed up a little until it settles out. But if you (and I) were hard workers before, we will be hard workers again. Hang in there. Feeling bad about it for too long will trap you.
