After writing the above message as Anonymous, I joined this board and hope to give and receive information. My doctor is a urologist and mentioned trigonitis as being a relative of IC. He did all his tests, made his diagnosis, and when I need help, I go see the nurse and get an injection of Furacin or DMSO straight into my bladder. I'm supposed to hold it in for an hour but very often the urgency is so great I have to go to the bathroom before the hour is up. If I have an infection they give me antibiotics. I asked my family doctor about the diagnosis and he explained about the Trigone and inflammation. I still don't know what the relationship is to infection but I'm guessing the trigonitis makes it so painful to urinate, the fluid backs up in my bladder and causes an infection. (Will someone tell me how to read the replies I get to my posts?) My condition is no better but no worse than before.
