Hi mrl_5,

I would love to hear more about why you are sharing this article, how it is significant, and what you think women should know about it.

I glanced at the article, and it is from a year ago. Is there any updated information regarding the link between breast cancer and aluminum (particularly aluminum found in deodorant)?

One of the doctors said, "We found a wide variation in concentrations of aluminum [in breast cancer patients]. Some patients had low concentrations while others had quite high concentrations." I assume most, if not all women use deodorant, and seeing as there was a wide discrepancy in concentrations of aluminum...there does not seem to be a viable correlation between deodorant and breast cancer. Is there more research being done on this currently?

Lastly, since most women use deodorant, this article could prove to be more paralyzing than educational, as it seems women (based only on this one short article) need to make the unlikely decision between breast cancer or wearing deodorant. So, then, how can we empower women with this article, as most are not going to stop wearing deodorant, but none want breast cancer. What is the answer, then? To empower women with knowledge, do you know if there are different types of deodorant, with different levels of aluminum? Has there even been a statistically significant correlation of this substance found with breast cancer, or some more evidence that suggests otherwise?

In the spirit of being a critical reviewer of health information and helping women prevent disease, I hope you'll continue this conversation with me, as it is a great discussion for us to have, as well as other women to join in!
