Funny enough, I just read an article about this that said that high protein diets are good for weight loss. It was mainly due to the fact that you eat less when you have a high protein diet and you absorb less calories in your diet. In other words, you feel full and eat less.

On the other hand, The American Heart Association does indicate that high protein diets may be lacking in essential nutrients that the body needs though. The long term effectiveness of high protein diets are questionable. This also raises concern for higher cholesterol, strokes, etc. You can read the full article from the American Heart Association here http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=11234.

Like an diet, there are pros and cons. Talking to a nutritionist may be best in order to find the best diet for your body type and normal eating habits. Exercise is also key.
