Kristin, sorry I missed this posting...I just provided magnesium supplementation suggestions on another link. First of all, reading about Magnesium can help and I recommend this book: The Magnesium Factor by Mildred Seelig, MD. I take powder magnesium which I get at a local health food store. I take 1000mg every other day, if I get diarrhea it is OK for a few hours and will cut the dose next time. It is also a good idea to take a 2:1 ratio of calcium to magnesium. So if you have a 1000mg dosage of calcium, take 500mg of magnesium.
Ijust thought about something for you to try with your RLS, have you heard of Hops? I am sure you can find it in a health food store. It is also known as Humulus Lupulus. Take 500mg or 1-2ml (if liquid) a half hour before bedtime. Hops is a nervine that relaxes the nervous system.
St John's Wort is back in the picture as one of the best nerve tonics that help ease mild cases of depression and related insommia caused by stress or RLS. Hope this helps. Keep me posted.
