I have used Lupron a several times in the last two years for periods of six months or longer as a treatment for my endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain. Aside from the expected side effects resulting from shocking my body into menopause at 21 such as hot flashes, night sweats, and mood changes I suffered far more severe effects as well.... My second time being treated with the monthly Lupron injections I began to develop symptoms of fibromyalgia. Within three months my symptoms were so extreme I was in the hospital and being checked and tested for everything from Lupus to autoimmune diseases; all with no result. It wasn't until I was so desperate in my quest for answers that I began researching everything I could find on the drug and found it can cause severe joint and muscle damage; as well as rapid bone loss. I decided to discontinue my treatment on the drug against my doctors wishes; eventually seeking help from another specialist. Within the first month off the shot I began to feel 21 again and I realized my constant body aches and joint pains began to decrease. I was shocked! Within three months I was nearly one hundred percent. I could walk up and down stairs without help again! There were clearly many negatives associated with the drug Lupron but it should be noted that in a recent laparoscopy I had in March of this year it was confirmed that my endometriosis had regressed greatly (most likely due to the use of Lupron to shut down my estrogen production). I hope this can help to give some readers a better understanding and if nothing less serve as a caution. -Ashley
