Hi amica,

I am so sorry to hear this! Can you provide us with some more information, and we can try to help you with more information and resources.

When I was pregnant, I had some similar symptoms that you are experiencing, and mine was related to the sciatic nerve (the large nerve that extends down the spinal column to its exit point in the pelvis and carries nerve fibers to the leg). Pain in the sciatic nerve causes shock-like or burning low back pain combined with pain through the buttocks and down one leg to below the knee, occasionally reaching the foot.

Most importantly: Have you seen another doctor, for a second opinion?

1. How old are you? Do you have any other health conditions, or previous injury?
2. What do YOU think may be causing your back pain (what does your intuition say)?
3. Does your back, hip, leg and foot hurt all the time? Are there times of the day, positions and/or activities when they hurt more or less than others?
4. You mentioned these areas are also swelling, and your foot can not touch the ground. Is there pain in your foot, or is it tender or tingling? Or, is the pain still in your back/leg and you can't put your foot down.
5. Has your doctor discussed options for treating the pain?
6. Has your doctor suggested any lifestyle changes to make, including exercise or diet?
7. You said that your "whole right like swell's up". Do you have actual swelling, and if so, where is it located exactly? When, and under what circumstances do you have swelling?
8. Can you describe the pain: stabbing, dull, ache, sudden jolt, limited range of motion, etc. You can read more about the types of low back pain, and see if any of these symptoms similar to what you are experiencing: Low Back Pain from National Institutes of Health (NIH).

While you answer those questions, there are some alternative and complementary medicine practices that are used for lower back pain. Are you interested in learning more about:
- acupuncture
- chiropractor
- magnetic therapy
- hydrotherapy (application of water)
- massage

Have you considered seeing a Naturopathic Physician for a 2nd opinion?
