Reality: regardless what you encourage and how well a job you think you've done with your children, when they decide they're going to make their own choices, they will. All we parents can do is our best to guide and educate them and hope they'll make good decisions. I'm very grateful that my kids have managed to make good decisions.

Our kids should be given as much good information as we can provide, and be open to any good information available at school - since schools are running sex (or life) education classes, these days. I think most young adults, if treated like they're responsible young adults, will behave as such.

Even the "best" of kids from the "best" of families screw up, though.
