I have been using Similisan eye drops for sensitive eyes for years. They're homeopathic and can be found at major drugstores, as well as at whole foods grocers. The drops contain chamomile - which I'm otherwise allergic to, but the drops don't bother me.

Have you tried using allergen-preventive pillow and mattress covers? I found that putting the extra barrier between me and the dust mites, and other mites that naturally live in your pillow and mattress, cut the itchy eye symptoms. Folding your bed linens down, instead of making your bed first thing in the morning, dries out the body oils and moisture your body produces. I also treat my bed linens with anti-allergen spray.

When you do wear mascara, is it fresh? How often do you change it and your eye pencil or eyeliner? Ideally, you'd use a new mascara brush every day, or clean it every day. That not necessarily being possible, unless you know where to get a supply of disposable brushes, mascara needs to be changed every 4-6 months, and eye pencils should be sharpened frequently. Makeup brushes should also be stored in a cool, dry place, not on the bathroom counter, and cleaned often. Do you have any idea how far droplets from a toilet flush can travel? What a yucky thought!
