Alison, if you also have some advice for me--I've been curious about the same topic.
I do mostly running, or sprinting intervals for exercise and weight loss, about 5-10km (or 30-60 minutes). One of my problems with fueling myself before exercise is that I worry if I eat too soon before I go out that I'll get cramps (so I tend to avoid eating or drinking before I run). Thanks
