I have worked from home part-time for over 7 years. I actually do research into the company that is offering a work from home position before I try to obtain employment. The first scam would be if the company wants you to pay money up front for employment. In 7 years, I have never paid up front to work for someone else. The worst case scenario would be to pay for a background check which is approximately $30. This is legitimate especially if you are obtaining credit card information. This makes sense.

The best advise I have: “If it seem too good to be true, it is.” No one pays you thousands of dollars for 10 minutes a week. Everyone works for their money and even at home, it is the same.

A great website that you can obtain information on what others have experienced in scams is here http://www.workathomecareers.com/scams.shtml.

Doing your own research is the best method to avoid scams.
