I'm sorry to hear your daughter had such a scary experience, but happy to hear she's alright.
There is much we don't know about the brain. I also hope that, following Natasha Richardson's tragic accident and death, more focus will be given to potential brain trauma. I do think the medical community is trying to understand brain trauma, however, and how to treat injuries.
My daughter suffers from sleep apnea and recently had surgery for a deviated septum. When a sleep test was conducted, one of the neurologists she had been referred to prescribed a drug that her pharmacist questioned. A friend of mine is a neurologist and, when I told her to ask him about it, he told her to not take the drug as it was for epileptics - which she is not - and it may have caused serious health issues for her. He then took over her case and has her on a much more appropriate treatment plan. Thank goodness for an attentive doctor!
