This is nice to hear! I remember being pregnant, and unfortunately, did not enjoy it very much. So many aches, pains, fatigue and being scared about what the future brings. I do remember how nice people were, and received many more smiles from strangers. And, you're right...the second that baby was born, the niceness stopped and all of the sudden my baby and I were Public Irritants #1 to everyone around us, whether we were quietly shopping or I was trying to change a diaper in the public restroom.
