I think you are safe to say that your not pregnant if you are having periods. While you are taking the pill, the effect is to control your periods so that you don't have them until you start taking the sugar pills which tells your body, ok, now it is time to release the eggs. When your body is not being told not to have a period (by taking the pills), it says..ok, time to release the eggs so what you are experiencing is very common.
Since you are sexually active, you should use a backup method of birth control until you are back on track. Sunday start back on the pill after your period and still use a backup method for at least 7 days after you begin the pill again.
If you have any concerns, get a pregnancy test to settle your nerves about the possibility. There is always a chance of pregnancy even while taking the pill since nothing has a 100% guarentee so always use condoms not only for a backup but also for protection against sexually transmitted diseases.
