I'm not sure why you suddenly stopped taking your pills when you got your period, as what you were experiencing was most likely breakthrough bleeding and not a period. Breakthrough bleeding is common when missing pills.

Women will forget to take a birth control pill; it is almost inevitable. What is not inevitable is choosing also not to use a condom, after you know you forgot to take pills. Since he did not ejaculate in you, what you engaged in is called: Withdrawal Method. Basically, that means he pulled out, or withdrew, his penis before ejaculating. This method of birth control only has about a 70-80% effectiveness rate (when not used consistently), compared to your birth control pills (when used correctly and consistently) at 99% effectiveness. It is OK to miss a pill here-and-there...just be sure to use a condom for the following 7 days, and you won't need to worry about pregnancy (although, nothing but abstinence is 100% "safe").

You will probably experience some irregular bleeding for a cycle or two, and this would be normal with the stopping and starting of the hormones. Nothing harmful to your body, just inconvenient that you will not know when you will have your "period".

A pregnancy test would be effective after the time you would be expecting your regular period (and, at least 2 weeks after sex).
