I am so sorry for you and all who are going through this. I have been dealing with it since I was 12 and am now 50. Just as you said, I too, feel like a prisoner. I can't be in weather over 67-68 degrees, I also, can't do any kind of physical activity, including dishes (which I still have to do but can't use hot water), I can't even take a warm bath. When I do get a migraine, I have to stand in a cold shower to bring my body temperature down or put an ice pack on the back of my neck and then deal with trying to get over the migraine. Over the counter meds don't work and I have gone through all the prescription meds as well. About 23 yrs ago, I had used Lithium for this issue and it worked like a charm. I was able to go out in the heat of summer and enjoy dirt bike riding, hiking, camping, fishing and all the things I loved to do but due to a job change and insurance change, I was taken off it. Three months later when my new insurance started up again, the new Doctor's refused to put me back on it because they said it was to dangerous. I fought for my life and no one would budge. About 3 yrs ago, I finally found someone to put me back on Lithium and I was so excited. I thought I was going to get my life back. Laugh, it didn't work this time. Nothing! So, as a last resort, I got a marijuana license (California) and tried that, it works. It still doesn't prevent them from coming on but will mask the pain and nausea, if you are willing to try that. I have looked for trails for these types of migraines with no avail. Please continue your search, as I am. If I am able to find anything, I will let you know. Just know you are not alone in this and I'm so glad your family finally understood enough to go have fun. No sense in everyone suffering.
