Hi,
I'm happy to hear that you were able to use emergency contraception within 24 hours of unprotected sex!

Unfortunately, the only way to know if Plan B worked is: when you get your next period.

It could help ease your mind a little if you know this information:
- Length of your cycles (count from the date your last menstrual period started to the date of your next menstrual period.) If you note the dates on a calendar for a few months, you will notice if your cycles are consistent, irregular and if they are the "average" 28-day, or could be 21-days or 35-days...or anything in between.
- Date of Ovulation (when you know your cycle length, it can help to pinpoint your most fertile days when you ovulate). Most women ovulate 12-16 days from the date of their expected (next) period, or you can count the other way: most women ovulate 11-21 days after their period.

This information can help, so you know if you are ovulating/fertile during your period. For many (most?) women, this is not their most fertile time, but it is for other women. It is helpful to know your cycle, but also know that your cycle can change (new medication, stress, etc) at any time, and the only way to prevent an unwanted pregnancy is abstinence or using consistent and reliable contraception.

Do you have an OB/GYN that you see on an annual basis? Are you interested in birth control options?

Some information about Plan B that will help you:
Since you took Plan B, you probably know that it can reduce the risk of pregnancy by 89% when started within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. (According to Planned Parenthood, "only 1 out of 100 women will become pregnant after taking Plan B if started within three days.")

Even better news for you, since you took Plan B within 24 hours of unprotected sex: "Plan B works even better if taken within the first 24 hours after unprotected sex."

Let us know when you get your period!
