Hi, Bree, let's see what we can figure out for you. First, I have a couple of questions for you:

1. You say your periods are normally regular; how long is it usually between periods?

2. I am assuming you had unprotected sex? And are possibly worried about a pregnancy? Is this right?

3. About how old are you?

With the dates you wrote, it's been 38 days since your last period. If I assume that your periods are about 28 days long, you probably would have been ovulating somewhere between April 13 and April 23. Did you have unprotected sex during that time period, do you remember?

If your cycles are normally about 28 days long, then you are about 10 days late. If your cycles are normally longer than that, then you are not that many days late.

It's quite possible for you to just be late caused by stress or hormonal levels. Sometimes younger women can be a couple of weeks later or even miss a period altogether. But if you had unprotected sex during those days, you might want to buy a home pregnancy test to see if you might be pregnant. They test for the pregnancy hormone in your urine and are usually very accurate once you are late.

If you are not having sex, or didn't have it during those days, you probably do not have to worry about a pregnancy. It may be that you are taking a new medicine, have been overly active, are very stressed over something or have been a bit out of hormonal balance this month. And if one of those are the case, I would guess that either your period will still come soon, or that you'll miss one cycle but get back to normal next month.

Is any of this helpful? If you'll write back with the answers to the above questions we may be able to help a bit more.
