Amanda, I am so sorry you had to go through this. You are absolutely right-- childbirth can be death. It is fortunately less common today than it was many years ago but it still happens :( I was due with my baby in February (He was born 2 weeks early so came in Jan) and I also had a friend due at the same time. She went into early labor in late December and never came back. I can't tell you how shocked her family was and her poor husband was distraught. Here he was with a beautiful baby girl and his wife was gone. It was a really bittersweet moment.
You are sending out a wonderful message through your story. You helped save your own life by going to the ER to find out what was wrong with you. Many times people are afraid of bothering their doctor or completely avoid going to the ER or doctors office altogether. Sometimes that act alone will make the world of difference.
