I think 40yrs. old isn't necessarily the rule in all cases. I was told by my OB/GYN that I needed to plan on getting a baseline mammogram at 35, but I was pregnant at the time so we put it off. I have no family history of breast cancer, but do have other cancers in my family tree. I finally had the test done at 38, and am glad to have a "good one" to compare to for future tests.
