Hi StephanieN,

While I completely agree with you that it is very important to keep the relationship "alive" by taking the time to do things alone with your significant other, I don't think that that is what destroyed Jon & Kate's relationship. I've been watching that show since their 6 year-olds were babies and honestly, I'm not so surprised (though I am sad about it). I actually stopped watching the show a year ago because of the way Kate kept constantly belittling Jon and sadly I kept thinking 'this is a divorce waiting to happen'. They took a vacation alone, they would go out to dinner every now and again, but the fact is that they just weren't happy with who they had become. I don't think anyone really knows what happened (even though it appears to be that Jon cheated) but it's pretty obvious that he has some hostility towards her. If he did cheat--that's pretty crappy of him to be the angry one.

It's sad because they have 8 children and it is hard to explain to 6 year old why daddy doesn't sleep in the house any more. This past episode was particularly difficult to watch because of the awkwardness between them. I'm sure they will be fine- but I honestly hope that their children will too because ultimately, they are the ones who really tend to suffer the most out of divorce.

Great post by the way :)
