Hi AmyLei.

OK, thanks so much for getting back to me. You must be in Canada or maybe the UK? Linessa is sold under different names in different countries.

Linessa is a low-dose birth control pill. Here's what I found about its effectiveness:

"If taken correctly on a daily basis, LINESSA is as much as 99% effective in preventing pregnancy, but there is still a 1% chance that you could get pregnant. Furthermore, missing a pill or taking a pill a few hours later than normal can decrease the effectiveness. Certain medications like antibiotics are also known to increase the chance of your birth control pill failing."

The generic name for Linessa is desogestrel-ethinyl estradiol, and it is available under other names in the United States, but it is the same medicine. Here's what I found on www.drugs.com:

"If you miss 1 dose of Desogestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol , take it as soon as you remember. Take your next dose at the regular time. This means you may take 2 doses on the same day. You do not need to use a backup method of birth control if you only miss 1 pill. If you miss more than 1 active dose of Desogestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol , read the extra patient information leaflet that comes with Desogestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol or contact you doctor for instructions. You must use a backup method of birth control if you miss more than 1 active dose of Desogestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol . If you are not sure about how to handle missed doses, use an extra form of birth control (eg, condoms) and talk with your doctor."

So it's quite possible that you were more vulnerable to pregnancy after you threw up those two pills. But you still should understand that while it's possible, it's still a smaller than normal chance.

When is your period due?
