Hi, Anon. Welcome to EmpowHer!

Thanks so much for your question. You are very normal. Most women have a vaginal discharge, sometimes several times a month. Your friend may still start getting it at some point. How old are the two of you?

Here's why that happens. Your cervix, which is positioned between your vagina and your uterus, produces mucus during the course of the month. That's what the discharge is. It's usually whitish and cloudy and sticky, right? And then sometimes it's sort of clear and egg-white-like? That tells you when you are ovulating. When it's clear, you are getting ready to ovulate.

The mucus is basically something your body makes to protect your cervix and uterus from outside intruders. When it is cloudy and sticky, things like germs -- or sperm -- have trouble getting through it. When it is clear and like egg-whites, though, it is friendlier to sperm, because you are ovulating then.

It's very normal and you shouldn't worry about it. If you feel like you have too much or it bothers you, you can wear a small panty liner.

Does that help?
