I wish I had had time to do more research on this before having the procedure done. I had been in extreme pain for 5 days and (have a very high tolerance for pain) was rushed to the E.R. in our area, they did ultrasound, and CAT w/contrast. Found that my bile ducts were completly blocked, hence the pain. Went from our area, to a hospital 1 1/2 hours away. Since I had had no appetite and was in the E.R. for 7 hours, not a problem. No info on potential complications, other than because of the amount of "sludge" I might have to be hospitalized because of pancreatitis....I have still had upper right quadrant pain. (Not nearly significant). Still don' really have an appetite (1 week ago today). They want me to have my gallbladder out in the next 3 weeks. I am going to a surgeon I saw previously during a gallbladder "attack" 3 years ago, he said he'd prefer not to take gallbladder out. Gave me medicine and a diet to follow.....It was "sludge" at that time also. This time, well, I was in such pain I really didn't question anything....I am so very sorry for the loss of your wife and sincerely hope that justice prevails in the Dr.s and hospitals negligence....Sincerely, Carol
