Find out if you have an elevated cholesterol and triglyceride level.
If yes; ask a prescription for a statin.
Alternative (but very expensive) treatment could also be had with extended release Niacin (Vitamin B3)

Sodium hypochlorite (Chlorox) has a good action to deplete
polymeric substances.
You can do a google search action (video) to get
information.

Standard treatment is taking a 30 minute bath with one cup Clorox.

An Alpron (Brand name/antiseptic) like solution can be made with 70% citric acid, with about 2% sodium hypochlorite.
Food grade Citric acid is sold as coffee machine cleaner in the supermarket. Citric acid is the same as lemon/lime.
In practice you can dilute the citric acid and squeeze some clorox in the solution.
